TAYLORS -- An exhortation to Catholic men to engage in the raging battle that is killing the remaining Christian ethos in our society and culture will be made on Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Building at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and School, 1209 Brushy Creek Rd, Taylors, SC 29687.
Sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 9184 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and School, the exhortation will be made and explained by Mr. Tommy Smith of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Greenville. Tommy’s presentation is based upon the popular booklet, “Into the Breach” by Most Reverend Thomas J. Olmsted, Bishop of Phoenix.
Tommy Smith is a life-long Catholic, educated by the Sisters of the Divine Savior at St. Mary’s of Landover Hills Elementary School, Landover, MD. He graduated from Archbishop John Carroll High School taught by the Augustinians. Tommy has been a member of the worldwide Cursillo Movement within the Catholic Church for over 15 years and is currently serving as the facilitator of the Upstate School of Leaders. Tommy Smith serves as a lector at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church where he has been a parishioner since 2001.
Into the Breach (http://www.kofc.org/un/en/resources/college/into-the-breach.pdf) is a program sponsored nationally by the Knights of Columbus in cooperation with Bishop Olmsted. The exhortation calls for men of faith, courage and action to fulfill the role of Catholic leaders, to be husbands, brothers and men of love. It stresses the essential nature of fatherhood and grandfather-hood and it outlines a battle plan for apostolic action.
